The general rule in State parks is that dogs are allowed in developed campsites (regular campsites, not walk-ins or Group sites) and on paved surfaces. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. There are a few trails at Salt Point where dogs are allowed to keep people off the highway.
State beach policy varies from park to park. Some parks have beaches (such as Sonoma Coast) that allow dogs on leash. Fort Ross only allows dogs in the main parking lot and picnic area up in the main lot.
